#trust30 - Mirror Mirror
mytrust30: Today I look in the mirror and I see a woman who has taken a leap. The sleepiness in her eyes is hidden behind a wide smile that says, Hell Yeah!  She has a few wrinkles around her eyes from laughing all the time. Laughing is a good thing. I see small signs of aging here and there. Kind friends and family will deny that they’re even there.  We know better, right mirror? But that’s...

Where There is Life in Death
My father passed away on Saturday morning, August 20th, 2011. He went peacefully in his sleep at 97 years young. Yes, a long life lived between Guyana and London, UK. RIP Joseph Ethelbert Poyer, fondly known by all including my siblings and I as, Bertie. After his health began to deteriorate, which was just months ago in October/November last year (2010) we had been caring for him at his home....

What New Thing #1
This, the July (2011) prompt from reverb10.com I started thinking about, when it landed in my inbox 11 days ago. “What new thing will you try this month?” Truth be told, I don’t want to create a whole new thing, a new project or gargantuan goal at this time. It feels like I have enough to be getting on with (and happily and comfortably so) like I say, at this time… But, I...

It's a wrap!
I wrote a preview wrap up, to my #Trust30 Self-Reliance writing challenge on poetart: An exercise in trust, a journey in self-reliance. […] It’s not been the proverbial roller coaster. I kid you not, it has been life-changing. The self-dev edge has generated a renewed purpose, defined life goals, new and exciting creative ideas, new connections with people and technology, positive...

Personal Recipe, how to make a living
How to have no regrets… create foresight and live your bliss. The person I’d NEVER want to be five years from now, is back working in an environment that did not allow me to fully express myself. Like many other writers taking this challenge, entrepreneurial, forward thinkers, creative and insightful people with a handle on the bigger picture; working 9-5 in an office at a soul...

Over-coming... and fear, exposed!
Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.  True.  Truth.  Word. …the triumph of principles. When a vision shows up in the world, when thoughts become real; it is proof of existence. Major life goal (MLG) + 3 fears: (written in invisible ink)   My fear lies in being exposed. Exposure of truth and dealing with the opinions of others, both for and against my constitution.  ...

Alive-est
It’s really not very exotic. More a simple pleasure… but, I felt most alive recently at the bottom of my local swimming pool. I have been taking lessons to get over being a nervous swimming, bordering on aqua phobic. I’m that woman, left back on the catamaran on the beach holiday day trip.  Beneath the surface in my local pool, I cannot not smell a thing! I see the rippled...

Most Ordinary
We are our most potent at our most ordinary. We don’t always value what comes naturally or effortlessly. I am a brilliant cook! I love food and never strike out on choosing a good, if not great restaurant when the need arises. I gave up my career as a chef (some years ago) after achieving a distinction Diploma in Cookery for the Catering Industry and 3-4 years work experience in hotels and...

Courage to connect
Connecting: I now know just the person and I will do so by the end of the week. Re-connecting: there is one person I have been dying to re-connect with. I love and admire this person. In fact it’s been like being star-struck. By the end of the week I will do so. And I will schedule this in my diary once I’ve posted this! Random thoughts:  ~~ Dying to connect? Start living to...

Magic energy
Enthusiasm is energy (everything is energy). Enthusiasm is physical, a release of endorphins - walking, rambling, jogging, zumba, dancing, tae-bo, rugby, volley ball, swimming, skiing, skating, cycling, surfing, basket ball, football, mountain climbing, skydiving… intensity causes enthusiasm. More people. More eyes, more ears, more flavours, scents and sensations; more minds multiply energy...

"You know" - I know what, buddy?
I know that it’s time to rise, and today my shine is, ON! I know, I am not going to get everything done that I need to get done today. Something’s going to have to give… *sigh.** I know, tomorrow is another day with a 100% of life left to live. I know that telling the truth works for the best… most of the time. Be kind. I know choices are made with velocity. Others are...

Intuition, the secret of fortune
This air of alacrity, her eyes are tranquil pools, oval shaped and knowing. Slim build and about my height at five feet, seven inches her movements are fluid. As if connected to some invisible entity in the air. Shimmering brown skin, locs tumbling down her back, she is dressed in a flowing shalwar kameez of translucent white cotton. The moment I see her I know I will follow. I am compelled....

Speak Less of Your Plans,
… you’ll get more done. My interpretation points to, the importance of who you share your plans with, and being selective. The Artist’s Way (Julia Cameron) 12-step programme prompts to create a circle of safety, inside which the people that will forward your dreams, your project, your creativity, your art, are included. At the same time, people whom you might need to protect...

Face (and Fear)
Quick answer to a long question… because a ‘difficult life decision’ has thankfully passed. The cost of inaction is boredom, aka depression, frustration, lack of being present, lack of vitality, likelihood of failure, feeling a failure - experiencing failure as totally negative. The kind of person I want to be is calm, self-assured, knowledgeable in my field, loving life,...
